'Music Video: Growing' / RICEWINE and Jamie Barry

Director Jamie Barry takes the reins on new RICEWINE music video feat. Agung Mango & China.

After teaming up for Ways, indie-pop musician RICEWINE and director Jamie Barry have joined forces again to create a music video for the outsider anthem Growing. From fish-eyed lenses to retro breakdancing, black and white driving scenes and basketball, Growing pays homage to the 90’s rap music scene with clear influence from icons such as A Tribe Called Quest and Naughty By Nature. Jamie gives us some insight into the music video:

“Talae (RICEWINE) and I had the intention of making this video a lot more fun and tongue in cheek than Ways. A lot of the inspiration came from Talae’s first messages to me about the project… it never felt like they were taking themselves too seriously in the videos. The track itself is really uplifting so I wanted to elevate that even more with the visuals”

Growing ends with an inspiring reminder to stick together and find support in the comfort of music, as the outro repeats:

“Hands up if you never really felt that strong; Hands up if you felt like you was always wrong; Hands up if you never really did belong; At least you have this song, it goes on and on…”
