Claddy X Luis CL 'Vibrations'/ Review by Lakshmi Krishnan

Claddy and Luis CL join forces on ‘Vibrations’, a bliss-inducing house-inspired homage to euphoria, survival and the dance floor.

Put simply, ‘Vibrations’ is a straight up eight-minute trip into a pleasure coma—remembering the fun and flirty yet pacifying decadence of club nights and seven-hour underground house sets that used to feature as a main character in our lives eons ago. Produced by Naarm-based artists Claddy (Glamourartz, Claudia Jones) and Luis CL (Zanibar Chanel, Glamouratz) the track is an ode to the indefinable harmony and synergy embedded in club culture and more so to the “euphoric moments when you meet and connect with someone in the club” and there’s this “beautiful energy exchange” that can’t be replicated in any other space, says Claddy.

“I’ve been clubbing from the ripe age of 16 years old ….Being in the club, feeling the deep bass, moving your body and connecting with someone is such a beautiful moment which I think we all once took for granted.”

‘Vibrations’ was born out of one of Luis’ long form house sets, in which he remembers “Claudette dancing on stage to it at Lounge during a performance in 2015”. Somewhere in between that five year span, the two fused their energies together like irrevocable sticky livewire creating this gorgeously nu-funk, sultry mix. The track oscillates between the mainframes of 80s house synth, deep ambient bass lines and catapulting drum sequences that drip like liquid stars over Claudette’s honeyed neo-soul vocals that stretch throughout the entire single. On production, the addition of an MPC against Luis’ cool glassy synth work feels sugary and nostalgic lulling in and out of the splintered drum and bass.

“I feel very blessed to have connected with Luis CL (thanks to EN.V for bringing us together) as we really connect on a musical level. We’re both funky in a unique way and love old school club music… I love writing baselines and melodies, and Luis slays (everything) but especially the drum sequences and top layer synths!”, says Claddy on collaborating with Luis.

Released with two additional tracks, a charging instrumental version of the original single and a five (5) minute hi-fi glossy pop remix from friend of the duo, EN.V —Claddy and Luis CL has moulded ‘Vibrations’ into a electro house track that you can groove to absolutely anywhere, bedroom to dance floor and beyond!

Thank you for reading this article. Before you leave the page, we’d like you to take a moment to read this statement.  We are asking our readers to take action and stand with the BIPOC community who fight and endure the oppression and injustice of racial inequality.

Here in ‘Australia’,  Indigenous people are the most incarcerated population on Earth. Countless lives have been murdered by white police, white government policies and this country’s white history, institutionalised colonialism and ongoing racial oppression. Racial injustice continues today under the phoney, self-congratulatory politics of ‘Reconciliation’ and the notion that colonialism is something that must be denied and forgotten, an uncomfortable artefact of the past.

Feeling guilty is not enough. We must take action, pay the rent, educate ourselves and acknowledge that empathy and sorrow for past actions is insufficient if this does nothing to prevent our current reality from extending into the future.

Please consider making donations to the following organisations (the list is so small and the work to be done is so large, do your research to find more grassroots, Indigenous-lead community organisations):
