Streetscapes, Architectural and Abstract Content / Ben Walter

Ben Walter is an independent photographer based in Melbourne, Australia. His interest in photography began during a trip to the U.S. as a 14 year old where, he was introduced to landscape photographers such as Ansel Adams and Robert Lough Jr. Since, he has broadened his taste in photography beyond that of landscapes, and developed his own style, focusing more on streetscapes, architectural and abstract content. The selection of images submitted to Verve were largely inspired by Czech-French photographer, Josef Koudelka and were taken in various locations across Europe. The images are primarily vignettes of different places, cultures and people, aiming simply to transport the viewer to a different place and allow them to become privy to a moment, place or thing of interest. The use of black and white film, became somewhat of an exercise in focusing on light and abstract shapes so as to add an extra dimension to the subject captured.
