'Eye see boys' / Eben Ejdne
'Eye see Boys' is a three-part series exploring the male form, satirising traditional portraiture by manipulating facial features into grotesque, other-worldly portraits.
“The series was mainly derived from seeing men presenting themselves online - I became interested in how male-presenting people in our current technological culture are beginning to explore their own beauty in a public way. Of course, self-doubt and the desire to be liked by other individuals on a cyber platform would potentially begin to warp one's own perceptions of their own image. The portraits delve into a somewhat sexualized, bold caricature of the figures themselves, derived from fashion photography. By adding scars and morphing the features of the already conventionally 'beautiful' young men, I aimed to create a satirical version of the modern 'boy'. " - Eben Ejdne
