´Dear Prime Minister... Walk Out For Action on Climate Change´ / Blackwattle Bay School
Alia Ardon was one of thousands of school students who walked out of classrooms all around the country last Friday, protesting the inadequacy of the Federal Government’s climate change policy.
Despite attracting criticism in anticipation of the student strike from the Prime Minister and Environment Minister personally, (‘we do not endorse our schools becoming parliaments, Mr. Speaker’), the youths’ passion had been forged too strong to be quelled by paternalistic condescension.
Watch this short video produced by the students of Blackwattle Bay School, including Alia, in order to gain a sense of the groundswell behind this movement from the perspective of one school, one group of kids, all sharing the same passion - safeguarding their future.
Caption: Over 150 kids walked out of Blackwattle Bay, and thousands of other Australian students did the same, to protest the lack of government action towards climate change. Honoured and proud of the turn out today and to have been part of it. This is our future and is only just the beginning. #stopadani #dearprimeminister #auspol @climatestrike.
