Featuring Melbourne's finest vocalists Abbey Howlett & Rara Zulu, Shimada brings feminine power to the dance floor unique combination of thickly layered string lines and a crusty, bass ridden beats creates a cinematic and nostalgic atmosphere that evokes memory train like an old black and white 8mm films.

Rising star of the electronic and improv scene presents her new band, exploring futuristic beats with live instrumentation and cutting edge production. Leading the band with her violin, synths and electronic music production, she manipulates emotive violin melodies with ethereal effects, triggers lofi polyrhythmic drums with a SP404 sampler and analog synthesisers with her loop pedal to create a soundscape unique and edgy. 

Drawing inspirations from Detroit house, LA Hip Hop, Jazz and world music, Shimada's unique approach to sound production will keep listeners mind stimulated and convert any space the dance floor.

After recently walking away from the South Australian Music Awards winning BEST ELECTRONIC ARTIST, Abbey has been top-shelfed for an exciting 2018.
As a multi-instrumentalist, Abbey has progressively mastered the fine art of looping, introducing eclectic rhythms and beats to her ever-expanding wilderness, creating melodies atop melodies and patterns within rhyme. Her style has morphed from acoustic vibrations to colourful percussive vocal loops, blending hip-hop and neo-soul in a uniquely creative way. Drawing influence from all over the world, Abbey Howlett provokes memories of greats such as Bjork, Erykah Badu and Portishead.
